State of the Union address
I'm not here to talk about the content. I really wouldn't be able to say much about it right now anyway. I had it on and was prepared to listen to it since I don't have cable but something came up when Bush started his speech. My daughter started asking questions about the differences in the two main political parties. Naturally, I began another indoctrination marathon. Relax. I'm just kidding. Actually, we got into a very long discussion about it that lasted well past Bush's speech so I didn't hear much of what he said. No biggie.
Although we were talking through it all, I kept my eyes on the TV screen most of the time. I saw a few things that cracked me up and I'm wondering if anyone else noticed them. The first was John MCain with his chin on his chest, eyes closed and appearing sound asleep. The second was another politician shown doing the same thing just minutes later (was that Jim Webb?) The third and funniest, in my opinion, was when Bush was making his rounds, shaking hands and greeting people after his delivery. As usual, Sheila Jackson Lee managed to position herself not only in the camera's view but in the path of the President. When he got there he shook her hand and spoke briefly to her but was more interested in talking to the man to her left, whoever he was. As they spoke to each other Sheila Jackson Lee's mouth never, ever, ever, ever stopped moving even though Bush never once even turned his head toward her again. Even as he was walking away she was still talking at him.

Sheila's dialoge probably went something like this; "Oh, no, you
DI'eent just say that...!"
