New Jersey isn't so bad
I had never been to New Jersey and wasn't expecting a very pleasant five days. I was pleased to find out that I was very wrong. The weather was no colder or humid than it is here in Houston. In fact, it was much colder in Dallas a couple of weeks ago when I was there. I was also surprised at how friendly and helpful the people are there. I say that because we were not in the interior, we were all around the Newark area just across the water from New York.
Before we left I was told that we would be flying into JFK and taking a shuttle to Newark. Instead, we landed and took off from Newark. Although I could easily see the New York skyline from the airport, it was a major disappointment. We did have some down-time where we could have taken a shuttle into Manhattan but the guy I was working with is the type of guy who prefers laying in bed in his room and watching TV instead of seeing the center of the universe first hand. What a wet blanket. I called the front desk and got the shuttle schedules (which run every hour if not every half hour until 2:00 AM) and was very close to going in by myself. I changed my mind at the last minute because I had a sudden gut feeling that I might get in to some trouble over there. That's OK though, because we have two more jobs pending there and I will be going (we are the only installers in the company). I will be going to Manhattan with or without that lazy slug next time.
