Lease is up

It's time to sign another lease here. Last time I signed a 15 month contract because they kept my rent at the same rate as the previous 12 months. I thought that was pretty swell even though I have been here since 2000 and they don't have to rely on FEMA for my rent. That and the fact that I don't steal or break into cars or destroy my apartment or anything else on the property just for the sake of doing it.

I'm going to sign another 15 month lease this Saturday because I like it here and almost all of the New Orleans trash has either been kicked out or moved on to a more natural habitat; the crime friendly ghetto. Adios mo-fo's. I will not miss you or all the trash you shovel out of your vehicles into the parking lot.

These are the lease options I was offered:
6-11 month @ $760.00 with $125.00 off the first month
12-15 month @ $750.00 with $250.00 off the first month
Month to month @ $810.00

The mortgage payments on my house weren't even this high. This is what I actually pay per month out here in the 'burbs for a 2 br 2 bath 1,042 sq. ft. apartment:
$750 (rent)
$ 35 (water)
$ 20 (reserved parking)
____
$805.00

If I remember correctly, my house note was only about $675.00/month.
I certainly do appreciate the $250.00 break on next month's rent though.

Update: The manager gave me an additional $100.00 off next months rent for signing a 15 month lease. That's a cool $350.00 I can keep in the bank!

Well guess what. Inside the Beltway, even if it is on the industrial east side, I pay $740 for an apartment HALF that size.

I think it would be really difficult for one city to have to absorb the population from another. Don't think I'd want to have to experience it muhself.

Wow. That's rough Laurie. No more bitching from me.
I know where you work but for some reason I thought you lived in the Heights.
I didn't know you used Blogger. I know the new version is supposed to be out of beta now but I'm not touching it until I stop hearing complaints about it.

Hey goddess. In my opinion, it wasn't the number of people that came here but the bad elements within those numbers that has made it hard on us.

Well I'm sure I could be somewhere cheaper in the area, but it wouldn't be as nice. I feel safe here in not the swankiest area of town.

The Heights? I wish.

I am only signed into Blogger to leave comments. I tried once upon a moon to use Blogger, but I just was not comfortable with it. I have names all over almost every blogging system. I'd probably blog all those places too if I could think of enough topics to discuss.

The cost of living in Lafayette, La. is expensive. We signed a lease for a 1000sf. apt for 750.00 for 13 months. when it was time to renew, it went up to 875.00. Good thing we're not there anymore!!

Yeah, no shit Laura! Around here the rent usually just goes up about $30.00/lease. That is unless they are trying to week out a bad element and then they raise it about $125.00.

Oh, wait . . . that's how much yours increased (ducking)

Just kidding
